What To Expect
First Impressions
When you turn onto 27th and take the church driveway to the church (the little house you’ll drive past on the right is the church offices), you’ll be greeted by members of our parking team. They’ll help you find a parking spot, and if you roll down your window and ask, they’ll be glad to answer any questions you may have. Once you’re parked and come to the building, you’ll get a warm welcome from our greeters. They’ll be ready to answer your questions, and direct you to classrooms, meeting areas, and the information center where you can pick up a gift bag with all kinds of information about Morning Star.
If you have kids, head to the south lobby to our Adventureland registration desk. You can register your kids, get their safety/name tags, and go with them to their classrooms. You’re welcome to come in and check out the classroom to see what your children will be learning! You can be sure that they’ll be taught and loved on in a safe and secure environment.
Feel free to check out the facility and browse the Information Center before coming into the north auditorium where our ushers will help you find a seat. Then just relax, and enter into a time of worship and teaching with us!
Come As You Are
At Morning Star, we’re family. You’ll see people dressed up in suits and dressed down in jeans. People who are preppy and people who are pierced and tattooed. You’ll meet truckers and college professors; unemployed and business owners; democrats and republicans; black, white, Hispanic, Asian, young and not so young. What we have in common is that we all love the Lord and one another. And we love to be together. The whole focus of our worship service is just that . . . we come together to worship Jesus Christ. To give Him thanks and praise. To pray for one another and the needs of those around us. And to learn from God’s Word so we can live in a way that shows others the love and truth of Jesus Christ because being a Christian looks like something.
Worship
During the time of singing, you may see people raise their hands, or kneel, or stand. You’ll hear contemporary songs and some traditional hymns of the church. During prayer time, you’ll see people gather around those who have raised their hands for prayer. You’re welcome to raise your hand, too, if you have a need you’d like us to pray for . . . and you’re welcome to pray for those near you who have raised their hands for prayer.
Teaching
During the teaching time, you’ll receive solid teaching from the Bible, teaching you can build your life on. Each week in the program you’ll find a handout for sermon notes so you can jot down your thoughts and points you want to ponder. Often these notes will be in outline form and will include questions for our Community Groups, which meet during the week. After every service, members of the prayer team are always available in the prayer room to pray with you, members of the church family and staff are available to talk with you, and some kind of food and coffee are available in the lobby.
Concurrent with the worship service, we have a number of adult education classes that meet in the modulars. Check the adult ed section for a list of current classes. If you’re interested, there’s a class for you.
Morning Star is a worshiping family . . . growing in our faith, loving God and neighbor, serving with our gifts, sharing with the lost . . . all for the glory of Jesus Christ. Come and worship, grow, love, serve, and share with us.
