Our passion in Women’s Ministries at Morning Star is to love, encourage, and compassionately support women in their walks with the Lord. We are committed to providing each woman with what she needs to understand and apply the truths of God’s Word to her daily life, be confident in her relationship with Jesus Christ, share His life with people within her sphere of influence, and joyfully serve in the body of Christ.

Mom2Mom
This is a ministry designed to nurture moms of young children through fellowship, Bible study, spiritual support, and practical information. Our goal is for moms to make new friends and be encouraged through song, prayer, small group study, and simply by enjoying one another and embracing each other’s children. Your children will have a blast in our wonderful childcare program.
Every week the women gather for a relevant study and on the first Thursday of each month, take a break for a “Coffee Fellowship.” This is a special time of relationship building that all the moms look forward to.

Selah
Selah is taking a break, but will return in the fall with a new look!
Selah is a Hebrew word meaning “pause, reflection,” within the context of a prayer or psalm, and is similar to “Amen.” It is also our ministry for our single moms. Knowing that single parenting can be overwhelming, Selah helps single moms find encouragement by spending time with others who walk the same path, understand the same challenges, and need the same strength and wisdom. Selah helps you reflect on God’s Word and discover the pleasures among the pressures of single momming. Through study and fellowship, you’ll experience the refreshment of Jesus’ love and rest.
Wounded Heart
Wounded Heart is a safe and healing group for women who have been sexually abused. Using the wonderful text and workbook by Dan Allendar, this 13-week series brings hope and wholeness through Jesus Christ. The group is led by women who themselves have walked the path from devastation to healing.
Simply Prayer
Wednesday at 10 am in the Prayer Room
Join us for a time of worship-based intercession with Janie Shike. Simply Prayer also meets at 5:30 in the prayer room before the Saturday evening service and at 8 in room 203 before the Sunday morning services. Men as well as women are welcome.

Retreats
Belonging Prayer Tryst
Learn to listen. Learn to respond. Learn to rest in His love.
A tryst is a meeting of lovers. The premise of “Belonging” is intimacy with God. These prayer trysts provide opportunity to learn how to spend time with God simply by doing it. If you long to worship the Lord, meditate on His Word, and hear from Him, then come. There are brief times of instruction, unhurried times of worship, and a quiet time to talk with and listen to the One Who know you best and loves you most. Prayer trysts are scheduled several times a year.
Women’s Annual Retreat
One of our favorite events is our annual Women’s Retreat. The many women who attend each year find it to be life changing! The purpose of this weekend event is two-fold. Our first goal is to offer a warm, welcoming atmosphere and the opportunity for women to grow in their relationships with the Lord Jesus Christ and one another. Our second goal is to make the event incredibly fun—with lots of laughter and delightful surprises. During free time, women may enjoy walks, relax, indulge in great snacks, go shopping, or just see the sights and appreciate the area.
Save the Date: November 12-14, 2010 at Shilo Inn, Newport, Oregon
Women’s Raft Trip
Our women’s raft trip is an annual end-of-summer event designed for fun. Enjoy great fellowship as we spend one night together and take off the next morning for a day of rafting down the beautiful Deschutes River.
Love In Action
Love in Action provides “911” assistance to those in need. This may be fixing and delivering a meal following the birth of a baby, during times of illness, or after a death in the family. It may be caring for a child or helping with housecleaning or yard work, home or car repair, or providing transportation to a doctor’s appointment. This is usually done on a one-time, short-notice basis.
Opportunities to Serve
We would love to have you join us in loving God by serving members of His body, people in our community, and those beyond our borders. Call the church offices for a complete list of needs, or visit morningstarchurch.com.
